Weekday Nursery School has two large classrooms. The ‘Yellow Room’ (children ages 2.9 – 3.8 years in September) is comprised of up to 16 children per day with one lead teacher, one teacher and an assistant teacher in the classroom. There are 3, 4 and 5 day options available for this class. The ‘Blue Room’ (children ages 3.9 – 5 years in September) is comprised of up to 21 children per day with one lead teacher, one teacher and an assistant teacher in the classroom. Children who turn 5 in fall and are unable to attend Kindergarten will often spend their ‘transition’ year in the blue room. There are 3, 4 and 5 day options available for this class as well. Preschool hours are 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. daily. Snack will be provided by the school, but children must bring a packed lunch daily from home.
The Preschool Curriculum is based on the developmental needs and interests of each child. We emphasize the growth of each child’s self-worth by encouraging social interactions in an effort to build attitudes of sharing, trust, respect and empathy. Our program includes developmentally appropriate activities with stimulating and explorative art, music, science, math, literacy and cultural experiences.
We believe and see ‘play’ as children’s work. Through play, children develop vital skills such as socialization, self-esteem, self-discipline, a sense of responsibility and cooperation and ability to embrace diversity.
